A Rajasthan legislator has formally requested that the upcoming war film 120 Bahadur be granted tax-free status in the state, citing the movie’s depiction of extraordinary military valor and sacrifice.
Ravindra Singh Bhati, Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Sheo constituency, has written to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma asking that the film be declared tax-free when it releases later this month.
Produced by Excel Entertainment and Trigger Happy Studios, 120 Bahadur tells the story of one of the Indian Army’s most heroic stands—the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Indo-China war. The film chronicles how 120 soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment held their position against 3,000 Chinese troops in what became a defining moment in Indian military history.
Farhan Akhtar stars as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC (Param Vir Chakra), who led his men in this legendary battle. The film’s central theme is captured in the unwavering line: “Hum Peechhe Nahin Hatenge” (We will not retreat).
The recently released trailer has generated significant buzz and received widespread acclaim for its powerful portrayal of this untold chapter of India’s military history. Following the positive response to the teaser and soundtrack, the trailer has further amplified anticipation for the film.
The request for tax-free status reflects a growing recognition of the film’s patriotic subject matter and its potential to honor the memory of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Several Indian states have previously granted tax exemptions to films with strong nationalistic themes or those depicting significant historical events.
Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar (Excel Entertainment), and Amit Chandrra (Trigger Happy Studios), 120 Bahadur is scheduled for theatrical release on November 21, 2025.
If approved, the tax-free status would make tickets more affordable for audiences in Rajasthan, potentially increasing the film’s reach and ensuring more people witness this tribute to Indian military courage.
